When Will Love Happen?

QUESTION

I’m fortunate to have a great family, good friends, and a successful career. I feel like I’m in a good place, except that I’m missing a partner with whom I can share my life. While my parents would like me to be proactive in searching for a mate, I hear from others that I’ll eventually meet my special someone. What do you think?

ANSWER

If you felt something missing in any other arena of your life, would you just sit back and wait for it to happen, or be proactive? Is your love life any less worthy of your time and energy?

During the next several months, we continued seeing each other, and the intensity of my reservations about the potential of a long-term relationship with him increased the more our differences were revealed.

Easily Make Friends But Not A Relationship

QUESTION

I am 34 and have been single for way too long. I would love to meet someone, but it seems that every time I do, the person doesn’t like me or ends up being unavailable. I usually have an easy time making friends, so of course, when I am not romantically interested in someone, that person ends up liking me. It’s very frustrating since I have no idea why this is happening. I was wondering, do you think it’s just human nature to want what you cannot have?
